The Kansas National Guard Child and Youth Programs held a professional development course April 15, to teach the dangers of cyberbullying and safe practices of social media. Participates heard presentations from Dr. Sameer Hinduja, professor at Florida Atlantic University and codirector of the Cyberbullying Research Center and Sgt. Theresa Vail, Miss Kansas.

Lynda Bachelor, project coordinator for the Kansas State University Schoolof Leadership Studies, directs Job Corps volunteers in assembling personal health kits to be distributed to area residents in time of disaster. The kits were being assembled as part of the ReadyCampus event at K-State's Bosco Plaza April 15. The event was aimed at promoting awareness of and encouraging student involvement in emergency preparedness on and off-campus. A number of local, state and federal organizations took part in the event.


Six members of United States military branches located in Topeka were recognized as Armed Forces Personnel of the Year at the Topeka City Council meeting, April 8. The recipients were selected by their respective military branches to receive the Military Person of the Year Award from the Topeka Military Relations Committee. 

The 73rd CST participated in an exercise in Overland Park Kan. on April 1. The CST worked with several local fire departments as well as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from the Kansas City area. Conducting joint exercises helps the 73rd CST and emergency responders better prepare for real-world events and responses.
