190th ARW firegfighters stand by to assist


Emergency crews with the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Kansas Air National Guard, were standing by, ready to provide assistance at Billard Airport in Topeka as a small airplane had to make an emergency landing there August 19, 2016. The plane, a single-engine Bellanca, had landing gear issues and was burning fuel prior to landing.

Brig. Gen. Anthony V. Mohatt accepts command of the Kansas Army National Guard in a change of command ceremony on Aug. 6. Mohatt replaces Brig. Gen. Robert Windham who is retiring after almost 40 years in uniform.

Col. Roger Murdock, chief of the Joint Staff, Kansas National Guard, explains the National Guard force structure to international officers from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. During their July 14 visit to Topeka, the officers also learned about the Kansas system of government and the Kansas court system.
