635th Regional Support Group


635th Regional Support Group Mission

On order, the Regional Support Group deploys to provide contingency and expeditionary base operations support to the designated joint force commander. The RSG also provides mission command and the management of the reception, staging, onward movement, and integration of supporting forces during homeland security, homeland defense, and civilsupport missions, and conducts domestic support operations in support of state and federal agencies as directed.

Command Leadership and Unit Structure

The Brigade Commander is Lt. Col. Carlin Williams

The senior noncommissioned officer is Command Sgt. Maj. Linus Thuston

The unit consists of;

- 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation

- 1st Battalion, 635th Armor Regiment

- 891st Engineer Battalion


Recent Unit Highlights

635th Regional Support Group unit crestMission support of the Kansas Army National Guard’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic was the primary focus of the 635th RSG during 2020.  At the peak of the Guard response, the 635th had over 200 Soldiers supporting COVID-19 missions throughout the entire state.

The 635th RSG celebrated the career of Sgt. Maj. Dennis Holder. Holder retired after serving over 41 years in Kansas Army National Guard. He held several senior NCO positions throughout his career, culminating with his assignment as the Operations sergeant major for the 635th RSG.
